6/2/2023 0 Comments Naomi arcade games![]() The work was done for the Naomi, making Dreamcast ports meant free money. All of the "final" Dreamcast games released a couple of years ago were only possible thanks to the Naomi allowing for cheap development and cheap porting to Dreamcast. Originally games were all carts, then the GD-ROM drive was released and most games would later become disc until Sega decided to stop making GD-ROM related products (even though 4 systems could use it). In it's production form, it was a Dreamcast on steroids - the systems are practically identical allowing for easy and cheap ports, with the only real difference being that Naomi had double the ram. ![]() Taking it's cue from other systems such as MVS, the Sega Naomi would use a "mainboard+ changeable cartridge" design. ![]() It would be a cheap, but powerful in-house designed system that would serve as platform for all of Sega's arcade titles of the time. However for the uninformed I'll present some background info about the system itself.Īround the same time as the launch of the Dreamcast, Sega developed a successor to the "Model" range of arcade hardware. ![]() I know we've already got a sort of Naomi thread, but this is more about the actual cabinet.
